Also on tap are postgrad favorites: Like a middle schooler's brief glance at the salad bar before veering toward pizza, the name "Homeroom" almost never happened. After the Big Mac glitch, the team started an online naming contest asking the public for ideas in exchange for a lifetime of mac 'n' cheese. But, after suggestions such as "Macsterbation" and "Hellaroni," they ultimately came up with "Homeroom" themselves. A design concept, which before had only been vaguely "vintage," quickly solidified, and a restaurant-size do-it-yourself project was under way.

Other than the walls, electricity and plumbing - which both agreed wasn't worth the DIY risk - the two envisioned most of the space themselves. They hired Berkeley's Abueg Morris Architects and, on their own, salvaged wood, repurposed furniture found on Craigslist, and searched craft magazines for decoration ideas. Perhaps the biggest DIY win: For the restaurant's large chalkboard wall, they commissioned Bay Area artist Melissa Garden to paint a paper airplane logo and a map of California with playful icons to represent parts of the state - think Big Foot and crab.
Though it looks like chalk, it isn't erasable. The rest of the wall is open for customers' doodles, which are wiped off at the end of the day, just like at school. The school theme filtered into practical parts of the restaurant as well. Waiters carry plates on plastic lunch trays and customer's "library cards" - frequent-diner records - are stored in wooden card catalog drawers from a water-use library, bought from a UC Berkeley librarian. Had dinner with hubby and cousin on the patio. Made from scratch and hit the spot! I recommend the chicken bacon ranch.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Only downside is the location.
Homeroom restaurant well schooled in mac 'n' cheese
If you can't find a parking spot in front of the restaurant, If you love Mac n Cheese this is the place for you lots of variations on the menu. Everything was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were so looking forward to the comfort of childhood Mac and cheese but it was more like salt and cheese.
Hopefully just a off day I had heard of this place from the students I teach and have always loved Mac and Cheese. I had the spicy Crab and my wife had the Crab.

They were made perfectly to spread sweet and creamy honey butter into all of those nooks and crannies. Homeroom had a unique spin on it, by combining it with what tasted like a lavender iced tea and limeade. I love the gradient of the colors before you mix the drinks together.
Eventually, we settled on two, well-rounded options that we could both sample. My sister ordered the Gilroy Mac. I immediately knew it had to be garlicky and was not disappointed. This macaroni and cheese features creamy Gouda, sharp pecorino and just the right amount of roasted local Gilroy garlic.
You can taste the smokiness of the Gouda and the saltiness of the pecorino, and the garlic brings all of the flavors together. I ordered the Mac the Goat.
